High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment has recently emerged in response to the increasing demand for noninvasive procedures for skin lifting and tightening.
What Is HIFU?
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. While this may seem counterintuitive, the damage actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen a protein that provides structure to the skin.
The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent issue.
Who Is The Best Candidate For HIFU Treatment?
- HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.
- People with photo damaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
- Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity or very saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.
What Does HIFU Feel Like?
You may experience slight discomfort during an HIFU procedure. Some people describe it as tiny electric pulses or a light prickly sensation.
Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness or swelling, which will gradually recede over the next few hours.
What Is HIFU Treatment For Body / Weight Loss / Inch Loss?
HIFU’s 9 mm and 13 mm cartridges are used for the body, here HIFU energy is used to target the fat layer and destroy fat cells. HIFU is ideal for body contouring post pregnancy tummy, abdomen fat, bingo wings, thighs and under the buttocks; for a non-surgical bum lifting effect. HIFU is a very effective treatment for both inch loss and fat loss – at the same time tightening the skin!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is HIFU?
HIFU stands for ‘High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound’ and it is a non-surgical facial treatment that uses ultrasound to lift the facial muscles and tone loose or sagging skin.
How much does HIFU cost?
HIFU treatment starts from just $500, depending on the number of areas being targeted. We will go over the pricing for your treatment in your initial consultation.
What are the benefits of high-intensity focused ultrasound?
HIFU has many aesthetic benefits, including:- - Radiation free - No blood loss - Quick recovery and return to normal activity within a few days - Wrinkle reduction - Tightening sagging skin on the neck (sometimes called turkey neck) - Lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids - Enhancing jaw line definition - Tightening of the décolletage - Smoothing the skin - Non invasive body contouring
How long does the HIFU procedure take?
The length of the procedure depends on the size of the prostate gland. Larger glands will take longer to treat completely. A way to estimate time is 1 hour for every 10 grams of tissue to be treated. That works out to an average of 1-4 hours.
When can i go back to work and normal activities?
Men may return to office-based work and drive the following day. More intense physical activity can resume in 3-5 days, though no activity should be started that dislodges the catheter or stirs up bleeding from the catheter insertion site.
